Wakaw School is incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of Grade 11 student Haddison Gaudry, who recently competed at the Saskatchewan High School Rodeo Finals held in Swift Current from May 22–24, 2026.
Haddison competed in four events throughout the weekend: Goat Tying, Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, and Pole Bending. Her hard work, determination, and years of dedication were on full display as she delivered an exceptional performance against some of the province’s top rodeo athletes.
Haddison captured:
- Provincial Champion in Pole Bending and highest average overall
- Provincial Champion in Team Roping - Header and highest average overall
- Provincial Champion in Goat Tying and highest average overall
- Provincial Senior Girls All Round Champion
These results are a testament not only to her talent, but also to the countless hours of training, practice, and commitment she has invested into the sport over the past five years.
Haddison began competing in rodeo in Grade 6 and has steadily worked her way through the ranks. From Grades 6–8, she competed at the junior finals before advancing to the high school rodeo finals beginning in Grade 9.
Reflecting on her success, Haddison shared:
“I’m pretty happy because I’ve put a lot of work into rodeo and it’s nice to see a good outcome. Competing against all the tough competitors from across Saskatchewan has helped me to grow and I can’t wait to compete with them for Team Sask. I’m also really thankful for my horses because I couldn’t do any of this without them.”
Her rodeo journey is far from over. This July, Haddison will represent Saskatchewan at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she will compete in Goat tying and Team Roping alongside the top student rodeo athletes from across North America. She will be joined and supported by her parents as she takes on this incredible opportunity on the national stage.
Featuring more than 1,800 contestants from 44 states, five Canadian Provinces, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and Guatemala, the NHSFR is the world's largest rodeo. Last year Haddison finished in the Top 20 for Goat Tying at this International Rodeo and her goal is to surpass that this year. The event is televised and we know Haddison will represent our school, community and province well.
At Wakaw School, we are so incredibly proud of Haddy and all that she has accomplished. Her perseverance, humility, and work ethic embody what it means to be a Wakaw Warrior.
We are cheering you on at Nationals, Haddy — good luck in Nebraska!
